THE GRAND TOUR OF SENEGAL

" From St. Louis to Banjul in Gambia via Touba, the holy city of Mourides, this tour takes you to the discovery of Senegal and in contact with its people " 

Day 1 France / Dakar 
welcome at the airport and transfer to  Faidherbe or Novotel Hotel in Dakar. 
Dinner and accommodation according to arrival time 

Day 2 Dakar-Gorée Island 
Fast Visiting of Dakar, from Kermel market, to the Palace and the Cathedral. Embarkation for Gorée Island classified heritage. Visit of the house of slaves. Walk around the island. Lunch at the Pink Lake. Ride around the lake and departure for the north, via Thies, the Niayes region and arrival at St. Louis. Housing at Coumba Bang Hotel or similar 

Day 3 : the Djoudi or the Langue de Barbarie 
by canoe on the Senegal River. Visit the DjoudjNational Park and the Langue de Barbarie, home for many species of aquatic birds: pelicans, egrets, flamingos, herons, terns rieuses  ... Lunch.
In the afternoon :
 Discovery of St. Louis, charming old styled structure: narrow streets, houses with wooden balconies. Dinner and lodging at Coumba Bang Hotel or similar. 

Day 4 St Louis / Touba / Kaolack / Banjul 
Departure to Touba, the holy city and great religious center of Mourides who has one of the largest mosques in black Africa. Departure for Kaolack, lunch and continuation to Banjul, Gambia, crossing the river by ferry (visa fee payable locally directly by the participants: 21 000 CFA francs or 32.50 Euros) Dinner and lodging at the Ocean Bay Hotel or similar 

Day 5 Forest Makasutu 
After breakfast, departure for Makasutu which means deep forest. Makasutu is a forest of palm trees located in the meanders of the Gambia River. Through the mangrove or during a walk learn several varieties of African birds. Typical Gambian Lunch. Return to Banjul. Visit the craft market and tissues. Dinner and accommodation at the Ocean Bay Hotel or similar. 

Day 6 Banjul / Le Saloum 
After breakfast, departure for Toubacouta. Crossing, then transfer to hotel. Lunch. Afternoon spent on canoe ride in a maze of islands with many birds species: pelicans, egrets, flamingos, herons, cormorants ... Dinner and tenement at Les Paletuviers hotel or similar. 

Day 7 Saloum / Saly 
After breakfast, departure for Joal Fadiouth. Visit of millet granaries on stilts and the famous shell cemetery of Fadiouth Catholic village. Continuation to Sally Framissima Palm Beach for Lunch.
After lunch, depart for the Pink Lake. Ride around the lake, last stage of the Paris / Dakar Rally. Important salinity: 380 g / l. Visit of Fulani villages, and nomadic herders. Visit the scrapers of salt. The bottom of the lake is a salt mine. Swim in the lake and walk through the sand dunes. Back to Framissima Palm Beach, for dinner and lodging. 

Day 8 Dakar / France 
After breakfast, transfer to the airport according to schedule and fly to France. End of the visit. 

Advantages :
Circuit with incursion in Gambia and accommodation in the Ocean Bay Hotel or similar. Visit of Djoudj Park or Langue de Barbarie. Water included meals, well located hotels, Coumba Bang and Mangroves: immersion in African culture and accommodation in traditional African huts (simple comforts). Specialized guide
